We are looking for Alarm Technicians to install and service our products. In this capacity you will be responsible for:
  • The completion of scheduled repairs of alarm and home automation systems including but not limited to door and window sensors, motion sensors, glass break sensors, remote controls, cameras, thermostats, door locks, appliance modules and all other products used by the Company.
  • Being reasonably available to self dispatch to service calls and insuring prompt arrival to customers’ homes and businesses.
  • Providing reports of weekly inventory of on hand equipment and pulled equipment as well as operational and defective equipment. Responsible for insuring that defective equipment is returned to the inventory department.
Qualifications
  • One year of previous experience with the installation of home security products preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel as required to perform the service needs of the company’s customers.
  • Must have a clean driving record which satisfies the company’s standards and requirements as well as a valid current driver’s license.
  • Must be able to see, hear; write and speak the English language with proficiency.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach and bend for extended periods of times.
  • May be required to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally and up to 20 lbs of force frequently.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and sufficiently flexible to crawl through attics and crawl spaces when required. Must have considerable dexterity in his/her hands, fingers and wrists in order to perform the service work. Must have good vision particularly when there is a need to see smaller tools or parts or to take measurements.
  • Must have the ability to drive extended distances to and from service calls.
  • Must be willing and able to stay in hotels, motels or other accommodations provided by the company.
  • Must have a clean drivers abstract

Working Conditions
The employee understands that he may be subject to the following working and environmental conditions:
  • Indoor weather conditions which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature conditions or fluctuations as the company is not in a position to control the temperature in a customer’s home.
  • Minimal contact with hazards such as electrical currents and working in high places requiring a ladder.
Requirements
Fluent Home Part-Time Service Technician for Kelowna BC and surrounding area. Technician must be willing to travel within a 3-4 hour time window around Kelowna BC. Some areas of service may require an overnight stay, applicant must be willing to spend a few evenings away from home if the scenario presents itself.
  • Applicant must have a Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Applicant must be willing to provide a criminal background check in order to obtain a security technician license.
  • Applicant should be willing and able to work in an independent work environment once training is complete.
  • Applicant should enjoy working with people and possess good to great "people skills" and "communication skills," both written and verbal.
  • Service Technicians are required to problem solve and find a solution for the problem faced with. Previous problem-solving skills and the willingness to work through a problem to find a solution is desired.
  • Applicant should be fluent with and enjoy working with technology.
  • Applicant should possess knowledge of general hand tools and their uses. (screwdrivers, cordless drill, stud-finder, etc.)
  • Past experience in home security and automation, electrical, internet services and/or trades work, is desired.
  • Start wage is based on previous experience and can range from $18.00/hr to $22.00/hr.
  • Yearly evaluations are provided with the potential of an hourly pay increase.
  • After probationary period is passed (3 months) health benefits are provided.
  • After probationary period is passed, if desired technician will be provided with a Fluent Home fleet vehicle. (based on drivers abstract for approval.)
  • Techs are given the ability to offer new equipment and make/earn extra income while doing service work for a customer.
  • Many other Fluent Home and Technician perks are available once technician has passed the probationary period.
Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
