Your Opportunity

We are seeking a Disaster Recovery Specialist to join our team.

In this role you will work within a dedicated IT disaster recovery team and with key members of IT who will be involved with planning, implementing, maintaining, testing and deploying the IT Disaster Recovery plan. You will play a technical leadership role in the event of disaster scenario where a failover, failback and recovery are required. You will also play a key role in developing, implementing and maintaining technical solutions which are key to our disaster recovery strategies.

Your Key Responsibilities

As part of the Information Technology team, the Disaster Recovery Specialist:

  • Working with partner IT teams play key role in damage assessment in the event of a disaster event

  • Working with partner IT teams act as a technical lead for all failover, failback and recovery activities in the event of Disaster event

  • Help develop technical processes, procedures and policies concerning recovery requirements

  • Work with IT service owners, business owners and application owners to develop and validate recovery strategies

  • Identify the applications and services that are critical to the business and help maintain this information on an ongoing basis

  • Ongoing Maintenance and testing of DR tools

  • Participate in capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning as related to DR tools and infrastructure

  • Play a role in Designing, implementing and supporting disaster recovery plans

  • Supports corporate policies, procedures, and best practices pertinent to supporting disaster recovery

  • Maintain all the above to the IT standards that Stantec IT has established

Qualifications

Capabilities & Credentials:

  • Advanced experience with Windows, and Linux

  • Good understanding of Hypervisor technologies

  • Experience with CommVault

  • An above average understanding of networking in a corporate environment

  • Experience with Oracle and SQL would be an asset

  • Experience with Web Application Deployments (Weblogic) would be an asset

  • Experience working within a large Enterprise

  • Experience with and good understanding of Microsoft Azure is considered an asset

  • Hands-on technical troubleshooting experience

  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills

  • Strong written and documentation skills

  • Highly self-motivated and directed and keen attention to detail

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Education & Experience

  • IT related certificate or diploma or equivalent education and experience

  • Minimum of 5 years server experience in a related role
