You could be part of a strategic technology program developing alternative energy and other value adding solutions into mature in situ assets. In this role you will create practical solutions to increase value, while reducing CO2 emissions.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Progress a range of novel technology ideas through a gated technology development process
  • Combine a wide range of engineering, research, project economics, and interpersonal skills to drive projects towards success, or early failure
  • Collaborate with external research groups conducting experimental work on supporting technology initiatives to compile and analyze data

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • A strong quantitative background in problem solving using engineering, mathematics, statistics, or physics
  • Experience with creating a business case using project economics
  • Prior research experience including well developed report writing and presentation skills
  • Collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • A strong degree of curiosity
  • Experience with Microsoft applications
  • Current enrollment in a formal co-op or internship program in 3rd or 4th year in Mechanical, Chemical, Mechatronics, or Geological Engineering program at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Attach your transcripts with your application and clearly indicate the length of work term for which you are available
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Preference for:

  • A strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer
  • Familiarity with geophysical, reservoir engineering or geological data/concepts
  • A continuous improvement mindset and you are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • This is a temporary position for 4 -8-month work term, starting from May 2020
  • Working hours 40 per week (Monday to Friday)
