Senior Cloud Migration Engineer – Linux / Apache Tomcat / AWS Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Cloud Migration Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise cloud modernization initiative focused on migrating Linux and Apache Tomcat-based workloads to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing existing environments, planning and executing workload migrations, modernizing application hosting platforms, and ensuring operational stability throughout the migration lifecycle. Working closely with Architecture, Infrastructure, Application Development, DevOps, Security, and Cloud Engineering teams, the candidate will help transform traditional on-premises workloads into scalable, cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS EC2, Kubernetes (EKS), and modern automation practices. Key Responsibilities Cloud Migration & Platform Modernization Assess existing Linux and Apache Tomcat environments and develop migration strategies to AWS. Plan and execute workload migrations from on-premises infrastructure to AWS EC2 and Kubernetes (EKS). Support application modernization and containerization initiatives using Docker and Kubernetes. Optimize Linux-based workloads for cloud performance, scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency. Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers within AWS environments. Configure and support Apache Tomcat application servers. Collaborate with Cloud Engineering teams on networking, storage, compute, security, and automation requirements. Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation initiatives where applicable. Operational Support Perform migration validation, production cutovers, rollback planning, and post-migration support. Troubleshoot Linux, Tomcat, Kubernetes, and AWS infrastructure issues. Support operational readiness, monitoring, patching, and system optimization activities. Collaboration & Documentation Partner with application owners, architects, security teams, and infrastructure teams throughout the migration lifecycle. Create migration runbooks, implementation plans, technical documentation, and operational procedures. Participate in change management, implementation planning, and production support activities. Required Qualifications 7+ years of Linux Systems Administration experience. Experience migrating enterprise workloads to AWS. Strong experience with: Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) Apache Tomcat AWS EC2 Kubernetes (EKS) Docker Experience supporting enterprise application hosting environments. Knowledge of networking, storage, DNS, load balancing, and cloud infrastructure. Experience troubleshooting Linux application environments. Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation is an asset. Strong documentation and communication skills.
