Senior Software Engineer Location: Toronto - 3x/week in office Compensation: $150,000–$197,000 base salary, plus annual bonus and stock options About the Role We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale customer-facing product experiences and the systems that support them. You will work across frontend applications, backend services, APIs, and integrations that power high-impact operational workflows. Working closely with Engineering, Product, and Design, you will solve complex problems, improve reliability and usability, and deliver software that creates meaningful customer and business value. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys owning technical challenges from conception through production, navigating ambiguity with sound judgment, and raising engineering standards across a team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys mentoring others, and uses AI as a practical tool to improve day-to-day development. What You’ll Do Design, build, and maintain high-quality features and systems across frontend and backend applications. Own projects throughout their full lifecycle, including technical design, implementation, rollout, monitoring, and long-term maintenance. Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate ambiguous problems into clear technical plans and well-defined milestones. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, with an emphasis on simplicity, reliability, and extensibility. Build intuitive user experiences and supporting APIs that operate effectively across application, service, and data boundaries. Design systems with observability and reliability in mind, including metrics, dashboards, alerts, and health checks. Improve the performance, scalability, and resilience of the products and systems your team owns. Proactively identify technical risks, cross-team dependencies, and sources of operational overhead. Contribute thoughtful perspectives to design reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions. Mentor less-experienced engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and example-setting. Strengthen engineering culture by sharing knowledge, improving standards, and supporting a collaborative, accountable environment. Use AI tools thoughtfully for development, debugging, documentation, and workflow acceleration while maintaining strong engineering judgment. What We’re Looking For At least five years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems at scale. Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience delivering features across frontend and backend systems. Experience building reliable APIs, services, and customer-facing applications in modern production environments. Strong software design skills, including the ability to break complex business problems into maintainable technical solutions. A solid understanding of databases, data modeling, and relational database tradeoffs. Experience with modern web application patterns and polished, customer-facing product experiences. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including identifying root causes and simplifying systems over time. A track record of mentoring teammates and improving engineering quality. Nice to Have Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or comparable modern application technologies. Experience with React or a similar frontend framework. Experience with cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, Docker, or infrastructure-as-code tools. Familiarity with Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, or other event-driven and high-throughput technologies. Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform. Experience building integrations, internal platforms, or data pipelines. Experience in SaaS, vertical software, or products supporting complex operational workflows. Experience using AI coding agents in day-to-day development. What We Offer A generous equity grant that provides an opportunity to share in the company’s success. A comprehensive benefits package. Flexible paid time off and a hybrid work schedule. A one-time work-from-home allowance. In-person and virtual company events and team-building activities.
